Meet Zeus. He's the one who started it all. We brought him home in January 2015, when he was about 8 weeks old. He wasn't your typical Husky. He hated physical activity unless it included stealing someone's food when they weren't paying attention.
Zeus loved to argue with us until we got him a treat, knew how to break into a bedroom, and refused to move when he laid on top of your legs in bed.
A little over a year after we brought him home, we started thinking about getting him a furry sibling.
That's where Sadie comes in.
This sweet girl was found by my husband's co-worker at 4 am during a storm. She was 9 weeks old and scratching at her front door, trying to get in. Our friend didn't know what to do with her, so she brought her to work until she could figure something out. By the end of the day, we were taking her home.
The years went by with these two playing and tackling each other until November 2024, when we noticed Zeus's belly was swollen. We got the news that we didn't want to hear... Cancer. You see, when he was 6 months old, he was diagnosed with Epilepsy and had to take medication twice a day to keep the seizures at bay. Eventually, those medications caused Kidney Disease and Cancer. We had three more months with him.
The week before he passed, we began looking for a puppy. Sadie has a motherly nature and does not do well by herself. We were worried about what would happen once she was alone.
That brings us to this hellion, who lives up to his name: Ares. Named after the son of the mythical Zeus, we thought it was a perfect fit for the puppy we were bringing home to honor our sick buddy. Little did we know that the name fits perfectly.
He is a happy boy who loves to play with the kids and antagonize a now much older Sadie. He's also the reason we have gone through 3 couches and about 20 pairs of shoes in a year.
It was out of love for these three that Mythic Tails Co. was born. More than just pets, they are family, inspiration, and the heart behind everything we do.
Like many pet owners, we wanted the very best for our furry friends.
